System of a Down

System of a Down, a band made entirely of 1st generation Armenian immigrants, released their self-titled first album in June of 1998. The album's moderate success was enough to get them added to Ozzfest for the 1999 tour, and they have been on that bill ever since. In 2001, System released their sophomore album, Toxicity, to tremendous success. Propelled by such runaway hits as Chop Suey and Toxicity, the album reached double platinum. System of a Down is constantly campaigning with ANCA(Armenian National Committee of America) to get the Armenian genocide officially recognized by the American government. The vote on this issue (HR 398) will take place during the next few months. System is also featured on several soundtracks, including Dracula 2000, The Blair Witch Project, The Scorpion King, and Dee Snider's Wonderland.
